I am slightly overweight. Can I become an Airhostess?
Most airlines require your weight to be proportional to your height. While some airlines require the candidate to be within the BMI criteria specified. Generally the BMI requirements for a female is 18 to 22; And for male crew it is 18 to 25. The airlines conduct a height and weight check during the interview and the candidate will be rejected if they exceed the BMI range by being either underweight or overweight. It is recommend that the candidate lose weight and appear for the interview only when they meet the BMI criteria.
Airlines need people with the necessary strength to open emergency doors, the agility to attend to passengers in sometimes cramped working conditions, and the stamina to survive 16-hour days. An overweight or out-of-shape person may not have the necessary strength, agility or stamina to perform.

Can I go for a walk-in interview without any training course?
Although the airlines don’t require any formal training before you go for a cabin crew interview it is highly recommended that you go through some training in order to improve your chances of getting through. Here are three reasons why.
The truth is that only 2 out of every 100 candidates who appear for the interview finally get a call from the airline.
Once the candidate is rejected by the airline he/she cannot appear for the interview for at least 3 to 6 months.
The airlines keep changing their questions and rounds in order to keep the selection procedure fresh. Some airlines choose to do the Group discussion round the standard way by giving a topic to a group of 15 -20 candidates and letting them argue their points. Other airlines may choose to keep things simple and ask each candidate to speak on a topic for a minute or so. The process keeps changing and the candidate needs to be prepared for anything that is thrown his/her way.
A formal training in the techniques of interviewing can go a long way in helping the candidate land a job as a cabin crew in an airline of their choice.
What is BMI? And how can i calculate it?
Body mass index is a measure of body fat and is commonly used within the health industry to determine whether your weight is healthy. Simple steps to work out your BMI:
Multiply your height in meters (m) by itself
Divide your weight in kilograms (kg) by your step 1 result
For a Female with a weight of 160 cms and a weight of 57 kg. We first need to convert the height in centimetres to height in metres. As there are 100cms in a metre, we simply divide the height in centimetres by 100. This gives us 1.6m.

1.6 x 1.6 = 2.56
Step 2 - Divide your weight in kilograms (kg) by your step 1 result
