Minimum Height Requirements
The height requirements for Female is crew is minimum 155 cms and for male crew it is 170 cms. A further requirement is to be able to reach a height of 212cms on tip toes. This is for safety, as you will be required to reach equipment that is carried on board the aircraft. Some airlines do give height relaxations if the candidate fulfils all other requirements.
Following are the minimum height requirements for Jet Airways, Indigo, Vistara, Spicejet, Go Air, Air India & Air India Express. The airlines which hire both male and female candidates will specify different requirements for both.
Jet Airways Male - 170cms; Female - 157 cms
Indigo Female - 155cms
Vistara Male - 173cms; Female - 157cms
Spicejet Female - 155cms
Go Air Male - 172cms; Female - 157cms
Air India Female - 160cms
Air India Express Male - 165cms; Female - 157.5cms
Weight (BMI) Requirements
The airlines do request that you are a healthy weight which must be in proportion to your height.
The maximum and minimum weight to be eligible for air hostess recruitment in various airlines is given in the form of a BMI. Body mass index is a measure of body fat and is commonly used within the health industry to determine whether your weight is healthy. Following are the BMI ranges for Jet Airways, Indigo, Vistara, Spicejet, Go Air, Air India & Air India Express.
Jet Airways - In proportion to height
Indigo - In proportion to height
Vistara BMI Male 18-25; BMI Female 18-22
Spicejet - In proportion to height
Go Air BMI Male 18-24.9; BMI Female 18-22
Air India BMI Female 18-22
Air India Express - In proportion to height
In India, Airlines hire candidates between the age of 18 and 30 years. However the maximum age can differ from airline to airline.
Following are the minimum and maximum age requirements for Jet Airways, Indigo, Vistara, Spicejet, Go Air, Air India & Air India Express.
Jet Airways 18 to 27 years
Indigo 18 to 27 years
Vistara 18 to 30 years
Spicejet 18 to 27 years
Go Air 18 to 30 years
Air India 18 to 27 years
Air India Express 18 to 22 years
minimum Educational qualification
Most airlines require you to have at least passed 10+2 (HSC/Intermediate).
Following are the minimum qualification requirements for Jet Airways, Indigo, Vistara, Spicejet, Go Air, Air India & Air India Express.
Jet Airways HSC Pass (10+2)
Indigo HSC Pass (10+2)
Vistara HSC Pass (10+2)
Spicejet HSC Pass (10+2)
Go Air HSC Pass (10+2)
Air India Graduation or 10+2 & 3 Years Degree/Diploma in either Hotel management & Catering or Travel & Tourism (Govt. recognised courses)
Air India Express HSC Pass (10+2)
Other Eligibility Requirements
Although having a first aid certificate is not a minimum requirement set by all airlines, it does however help with your application for the position of cabin crew.
Most airlines require successful applicants to demonstrate their ability to swim at least 25 metres.
Ability to speak another language
Apart from being fluent in English and Hindi, most airlines prefer candidates who are able to speak an additional language. This could be a foreign language like French or German or even an Indian language like Bengali.
Customer Service Experience
Customers are the highest priority, therefore airlines seek to recruit cabin crew who have enjoyed working and have excelled in customer contact positions. Candidates who experience of having worked with people with special needs, such as the elderly, children or nfants and people with physical disabilities would have an advantage.
When applying to a Indian based airline you must be entitled to live and work indefinitely in the India and hold a valid Indian passport, which permits worldwide travel without restrictions. Some International airlines will accept all nationalities, but they must hold an up to date passport from their country of residence.
Once successful you will undergo a eye test. If you do not have perfect eyesight then glasses or contact lenses can be worn with most airlines.
